Peyson walked across the roof, staring down at it to make sure she didn't fall, though she never had fallen before. She slowly sat down, and pulled her knees close to her chest. Staring down at the ground, she thought. About everything. Lately she'd been feeling sharp pains in her chest. It had happened once almost every day, but she didn't know why. Maybe it's just stress... she thought, considering how often she worked.

"Do you always walk on the roof in the middle of the night?" Joseph called out to her. He leaned casually against an AC pillar, in nothing but a pair of blue pajama bottoms.

Peyson heard Joseph's voice, and quickly looked to where it was coming from. "Ha. Ha." she called back sarcastically. "What're you doing out here?"

"Searching." Was the only word he gave. He walked toward her and sat next to her. Joeseph looked up at the stars, there was something about them, something that mad him kind of angry. He looked at Peyson. "What about you?" he asked.

"I don't know. I can't sleep.." Again... Peyson thought to herself, staring at the ground.

Joseph looked at her. "Why?" He asked. Like there ever really was a reason as to why people didn't sleep. He leaned back on his hands and sighed. "Neither can I."

Peyson shrugged. "I don't know," she replied, her voice quieter. She stared at the ground below, almost afraid to look up.

Joseph looked at her shy features, but kept himself from smiling. This wasn't a time to smile, it never really was. Though Joseph somehow fought throught the barrier to bring at least a bit of happiness to people. Maybe I should have been an X-Men, he thought. Joseph wasn't as horrible as the other members of th brotherhood. He was a kitten compared to John Allerdyce, but who really cared. Joseph wasn't John and god forbid he ever became him. Joseph had to laugh at the thought. "What would you do if I became an X-Geek?" He asked Peyson softly.

Peyson almost forgot that anyone else was there, due to the silence between them. When she heard Joseph's soft voice, she blinked, and turned her head a bit to look at him. It was rare that she heard him speak like that, or ask a question like that one. She stared at him for a moment, then smiled slightly. "I think..." she started. "I think..that I'd follow you." she replied in the same soft tone.

Joseph just looked at her. He couldn't think of anything to say, at least nothing logical or comforting. He'd never had someone want to follow him where he went, most of the time people left him standing alone in a mess he'd created. Peyson made Joseph believe that she was different. "If..." he began. "If I were to kiss you right now, what would you do?" he asked almost inaudibly.

Peyson stared at him, at a complete loss for words. She started to try and answer, but nothing came out. She turned her gaze downwards again, trying to think of something to say, or at least trying to figure out how to say what she did want to say. "I..." she hesitated for a moment. "I..I'd probably kiss you back." she finally replied, and felt her ears get red as she did.

Joseph smiled and leaned back on his hands. He gave a slight chuckle. "Glad to know." he said. He looked back up at the stars to hide his slight blushing.

Peyson leaned back and looked up at the stars for a minute, then turned onto her side so she was facing Joseph. She stared at him silently as she debated whether or not to ask him. "If I were to kiss you right now..." she started softly, "what would you do?"

"This." He said. Joseph turned to her and leaned into her. He pressed his lips gently to hers so as not to scare her. He wanted to kiss her more forcefully and he would have done it had she not been the person she was. Joseph wasn't able to be that way to Peyson. He didn't know why, but it just wasn't possible. He pulled away an resumed leaning back on his arms and looking at the stars.

Peyson was surprised when she felt his lips gently against hers, and her eyes slowly closed as she started to kiss Joseph back. They opened when he pulled away. Her mouth opened to say something, but all that came out was a small, almost inaudible squeak, which made her quickly shut her mouth and sit up, blushing slightly. She hadn't expected that from him, but at the same time she'd known it would happen all along. Finally she looked up from the dark ground below, and looked at him again. Without really bothering to think it through, she leaned down and pressed her lips gently to his, like he'd done just moments ago.
