aXis: The RPG that is quite virtually a world of What Ifs
Ever wondered what the X-Verse would be like if Psylocke was part vampire? If Professor Xavier existed only as a holographic entity? If Apocalypse ruled over a kingdom in the sky? If you have ever wondered what X-Men's reality would be like, if only some things in it were entirely different? Then wonder no more...the butterfly effect is in play, and aXis is the place to be a part of it.
What is the aXis reality?
- The aXis reality is an alternate universe loosely based upon the canon 616 universe (the original/normal universe you see in the comics). The aXis reality is entirely original idea and has not existed in the comics or any other artistic form before now.
- In the aXis universe, some familiar events have changed and been replaced by unfamiliar ones, which strongly effects the shape, form and feel of this reality in a sort of Butterfly Effect, making the aXis reality a much different one to that of the 616 reality we are used to, in many ways.
- To reflect the differences of the aXis universe directly, every character at aXis must have at least one difference which sets them aside from their 616 counterpart, in other words, this change must make them different to a degree, from the usual version of them.
- Overall, the aXis reality is a place where players get to put their own creative spin on their faveourite characters, infuse the game with their individuality in a way usually not allowed, and help to shape the aXis universe with their unique addition to the game.
Metamorphosis
Each character that exists in the aXis universe must have at least one difference that sets them apart from their original 616 counterpart, due to the influence that the new and very different aXis reality has had upon them. Make the changes you always wished possible to your characters, make that character your own, make them unique, shape them to suit you! Make characters shine in your own unique light, and with that brand new original spin on the character you play, help to shape the aXis universe in exciting and unpredictable ways.
A New World
- Besides the traditional, unexpected threats that arise from all corners of the world, the main threat in this world is that of Apocalypse trying to shape it as he sees fit, like a Godly egotist. His presence in the aXis universe is powerfully felt on Earth, and there is rumour that he is manipulating time and space to change events to achieve wanted results, to help him mold his perfect world. He rules his Kingdom of New Babylon with an iron fist, and smites the weaker world beneath him as he sees fit. Only the strong may reside in his Kingdom, as he plucks them from the lower world and makes followers out of them, his rule over New Babylon absolute.
- The death of Professor Xavier has changed many lives, making some give up on hope, and some work harder towards it. This has caused great change in the aXis universe, even though Xavier lives on as a sentient holographic life form at the Institute. The fact that he now exists in the world in a different way from flesh and bone has made a big impact on the aXis reality, changing the world on a political level as well as otherwise. How mutants identify with themselves and their being a mutant is altogether quite different on the whole. Mostly there are two groups of mutant, the troubled kind who do not identify with their mutation or even know how to, and the king that do. Genetic hate crime between humans and mutants has greatly decreased, it seems as though without a cause for peace being fought for as strong as it once was, people have not been intimidated by such and therefore have realised the right way by their own accord. At the same time, Xavier still has enemies, as do all mutants, and humanity.
- The Brotherhood promises to be a less lenient and periodic force following the wake of Magneto's suicide, their new leader, Scarlet Witch (also the new ruler of Genosha), breathing a more modern and dangerous breath of life into the once sensible and more cautious team. Once not such a hateful young woman to say the least, her father's death has filled Wanda with fury, and she has took upon herself a bitterness and hatred towards humans that is more raw than even Magneto's and unlike him, she does not wish to play fair to any degree, or take her time. Her aim is to avenge her father's death by forcing others to suffer fates worse than he did simply because he wished to protect his kind from the humans who feared and hated them, even if he did think of his kind as the superior race. Under Wanda's new rule and operating from a giant, towering construct built in Magneto's image and infused with retrieved technology used to build the original Avalon, The Brotherhood is more wicked, dangerous and ruthless than ever before, and hold humanity responsible for everything that has gone wrong for mutantkind, most noteably the death of their former leader.
- Xavier, although now a holographic entity, and his X-Men, still reside at the Institute, however it is no longer the traditional manor it once was. After being demolished by Apocalypse and his Horsemen, the building that once stood has been replaced by extremely advanced Shi'ar technology and now resembles a large ergonomically designed spherical dome, serving as not only a home, sanctuary and place of advanced learning for mutants, but also as the most vital epicenter of all pro-mutant activity and information present in the aXis universe. Currently a team of X-Men (Axis) reside at the new Institute now titled Greymalkin Center, protecting and teaching the students that they train in the use and control of their mutations there, as well as watching over the world in order to tend to all manner of threatening occurances from time to time.
- Then of course, there is a mostly mobile X-Treme team (Zephyr), whose goals revolve around many black ops, which in other words are missions that must be off-the-radar and remain a secret for their extremity. Recently Zephyr have discovered their first of Destiny's Diaries, and after much deliboration have decided to make these prophetic diaries a matter of high priority within their cause, and so they aim to not only solve the psychic foretelling riddles within the many diaries but also find those volumes that are missing and protect them from being misused by those who would abuse their prophecies. Zephyr answer to nobody but themselves, although they do regard Xavier's teachings and protocols as highly as they possibly can, but they are rule-breakers, they do not abide by laws set in place outright if it means that a job which is needed to be done, will not get done.
- It is above all, a new age in the aXis universe, and the future holds countless mysteries original to this original reality. What is around the corner for the X-Men and their opponents can not be certain, but one thing is for sure, and new and exciting tomorrow is ahead for eveyone, with enemeies, events and changes to the world around them that have never been seen before, anywhere.
