This begins the new new chapter in the X-Men legacy.
Professor Charles Xavier is at the end of his reign over the institute. He's grown very old, and is now training one of the students to run the school. That student has not yet been revealed by Professor X, but will be soon enough.
The rest of the X-men are trying to negotiate a treaty with the brotherhood to work together in stopping the new government officials who are trying to destroy all mutants.
